1.2. Reference in these terms to 'us', 'we', 'our' or 'Barclays' shall be read to mean the Barclays company which you hold the account linked to your Travel Wallet with (Barclays Bank UK PLC or Barclays Bank PLC).

2.Opening a Travel Wallet

2.1. The Travel Wallet feature is available if you have an eligible account and active debit card. Please contact us using the details set out in your General Terms for more information on the eligible accounts and debit cards supported. We reserve the right to amend the debit cards and accounts supported at any time.

2.2. The Travel Wallet feature can be added to one eligible account and debit card.

2.3. Each eligible account can have a maximum of one US Dollar Travel Wallet and one Euro Travel Wallet linked to it.

2.4. The Travel Wallet can only be linked to a sole current account. If the linked current account is subsequently made joint, or the Travel Wallet moved to a joint current account, then we may require the Travel Wallet to be closed.

2.5. Any restrictions that you have chosen for your linked debit card will also apply to the Travel Wallet. These can be changed at any time within the app.

2.6.If your linked debit card is replaced or reissued, for example on expiry or because it has been lost, stolen or damaged, then the new card will automatically be linked to your Travel Wallet.

2.7. In the event that your debit card is not automatically replaced and you choose not to request a new one, then your Travel Wallet will remain open but you will only be able to access it by contacting us using the details set out in your General Terms.

3.Buying and exchanging currency

3.1. Currencies supported by Travel Wallet can be purchased with available funds in your linked account using your debit card, in app.

3.2. You can select the amount of currency you would like to buy or the GBP amount for exchange and we will show an indicative amount to be debited from your linked GBP account and an indication of the amount of selected currency to be credited to your Travel Wallet. A guaranteed exchange rate will then be offered for 90 seconds for you to confirm your acceptance. Once you have confirmed the exchange rate the purchase will be complete and the selected currency will be immediately available to use in your Travel Wallet.

3.3. Currency held in a Travel Wallet and shown as available balance can also be exchanged back into GBP.

3.4. You can select the amount of currency you would like to exchange back into GBP or the GBP amount for exchange and we will show an indicative amount to be credited from your Travel Wallet to your linked GBP account. A guaranteed exchange rate will then be offered for 90 seconds for you to confirm your acceptance. Once you have confirmed the exchange rate the confirmed GBP amount will be credited to your GBP account and be immediately available to use.

3.5. The exchange rate used for the purchase and sale of the currency plus any applicable margin will be available to view in app and will be shown on your Travel Wallet statement.

3.6. Limits may apply to the amount of currency that can be purchased, stored and transacted using the Travel Wallet feature. You can check these in app or by contacting us using the details set out in your General Terms.

4.Using the Travel Wallet

4.1. Currency held in your Travel Wallet can be used for transactions and withdrawals in the same currency using your linked debit card. Travel Wallet allows you to use the same payment functions as available on your linked debit card, in accordance with the General Terms. We retain the right to amend the payment functions available on Travel Wallet at any time.

4.2. Where a transaction or cash withdrawal is initiated in a currency held in a Travel Wallet, we will debit that currency amount from the available funds held in the applicable Travel Wallet.

4.3. Where a transaction or cash withdrawal is initiated in GBP or in a currency not held in your Travel Wallet, the transaction or withdrawal will be processed in GBP and debited from your linked GBP account, not from your Travel Wallet.

4.4. Where a currency conversion is offered to you at point of sale or at an ATM, always consider if you hold the relevant currency of the transaction in your Travel Wallet before accepting. If you accept a currency conversion from a third party, we shall not be liable for the exchange rate provided or any associated charges that may be imposed by that merchant or ATM provider. Try to find out what the merchant or cash machine provider's commission charges are and what exchange rate they are using, as overall it may be more expensive to pay in sterling.

4.5. We do not charge you for transactions or cash withdrawals in a currency held in your Travel Wallet. Please be aware that other ATM providers may charge for cash withdrawals from your Travel Wallet and such charges will be deducted from your Travel Wallet.

4.6. Charges will be applicable where a transaction or cash withdrawal is initiated in GBP or in a currency not held in your Travel Wallet, when using you debit card abroad.

4.7. Please see your tariff which sets outs the applicable charges if you use your debit card abroad to pay in (a) GBP or (b) in a currency not held in your Travel Wallet (either abroad or in the UK).

4.8. Where you make a payment in a Travel Wallet currency and you have insufficient funds to complete the transaction in the initiated currency, you can set up the Travel Wallet to:

4.8.1. Convert the transaction into GBP and authorise the payment to be debited from your linked GBP account (please note that charges may be incurred for non-sterling transactions, for more details please refer to your General Terms and tariff); or

4.8.2. Decline the payment.

4.9. You can select the payment settings when opening a Travel Wallet and you can amend these any time in the app.

4.10. Where possible, we will notify you of a declined transaction to enable you to amend your payment settings or top up your Travel Wallet.

4.11. The only payments permissible from a Travel Wallet are those made with your debit card. Other types of payment, such as direct debits, are not available.

5.Offline transactions

5.1. The majority of transactions will be processed by merchants immediately, however in some scenarios merchants may process a payment later than the date the payment was initiated.

Until these payments are processed by the merchant they will not be reflected in your Travel Wallet balance. In the event that a Travel Wallet has insufficient funds or has been closed by us or by you, at the point the payment is processed we will debit funds from your linked GBP account, even where you have set your setting to decline the payment where there are insufficient funds in your Travel Wallet.

5.2. Where a refund is initiated in the same currency held in the Travel Wallet, then the refund will be processed back into your Travel Wallet. If your Travel Wallet has been closed at the point the refund is processed the refund will be credited into your linked GBP account. Visa converts transactions into sterling using the Visa Exchange Rate on the day it processes the transaction. This date may be different to the day on which the transaction took place. Historic exchange rate information is available on visaeurope.com.

5.3. How we deal with unauthorised payments is set out in your General Terms. For unauthorised payments from your Travel Wallet, we’ll put your Travel Wallet back as if the payment hadn’t happened, unless we have reasonable grounds to think you’re not entitled to a refund. This may involve firstly crediting your linked GBP account before transferring the unauthorised amount into your Travel Wallet. We will look to transfer this credit to your Travel Wallet on the same day, but this may take longer on a weekend or bank holiday.

6.Travel Wallet closure

6.1.We may be required to close a Travel Wallet for any of the reasons set out in these terms or your General Terms, and exchange the remaining balance back into GBP and credit your linked GBP account on your behalf.

6.2. We may stop or suspend the use of Travel Wallet for any of the reasons set out in your General Terms.

6.3. You may close your Travel Wallet any at any time, once the balance is zero.

7.Statements

7.1. You will be able to access information about payments into and out of your Travel Wallet, including details of any applicable margin, exchange rates or charges through the Barclays app.

7.2. Unless you have opted otherwise for your linked GBP account, we’ll also put the same information on a monthly Travel Wallet statement and provide these to you free of charge accessible through the Barclays app, and as set out in your General Terms.

7.3. Only transactions or withdrawals from the Travel Wallet will appear on the Travel Wallet statement, all currency purchases and exchange transactions will also be shown on the statement of your linked GBP account.
